AgriFacture True Ridge Project

AgriFacture and True Ridge Collaborate to Provide 3-D Printed Face Shields to Community

AgriFacture and True Ridge have announced a collaboration in which they will be providing face shields to members of the Hendersonville community. This project is a joint effort between the two organizations to provide materials for people in need of them during COVID-19.

The face shields produced by AgriFacture are custom made on AgriFacture’s 3-D printer. Each face shield takes a little over an hour to print, and a complete set of 12 face masks takes 13 hours to complete.

True Ridge, a non-profit organization in Hendersonville, will be distributing the 3-D printed masks to local workers who are in need of protection during this time. So far, 36 total masks have been printed and will be distributed to workers in empacadoras – packing houses. Another set of masks will go to workers at Blue Ridge Health.

“Anything we can do to protect people from potential hazards is a win-win for both True Ridge and AgriFacture”, says Ed McCammon, CEO of AgriFacture. “We applaud and appreciate how other organizations have stepped up to supply protective materials to our first responders during this time. However, it has been brought to our attention that there is a whole other sector of our workforce who needs protection – the people who are working to feed our community.”

This where True Ridge comes in, as the non-profit organization specializes in providing assistance to members of the Hendersonville community who are often overlooked – particularly the Latinx community, who makes up over 10 percent of the Henderson County population.

“The underserved community that processes our food needs protection as well,” says Executive Director of True Ridge, Lori Garcia-McCammon. “True Ridge is grateful to work with AgriFacture to create these face shields and distribute them where they are needed.”
